A Custom Gömböc is one that is designed and manufactured based on specific customer requirements. It is a unique piece or small series that is not made commercially available to others. Customization options include size, material, surface finishing and special engravings such as personalization or numbering schemes. If required it is even possible to have a special Gömböc form developed by the inventors of the Gömböc, one that has never been used before and will never be used afterwards.

Developing and producing a custom Gömböc is almost always an adventure since it typically means overcoming technological challenges with respect to extra sizes and new materials.

Example 1: The largest Gömböc in the world

A visible example of a Custom Gömböc is the one exhibited in the Budapest Palace of Arts. This unique object is the largest Gömböc in the world, 18cm in diameter and manufactured solely for this purpose. Our customer, the Concorde Alapkezelo Zrt., has selected Gömböc number 100 of the "numbered edition" for this extraordinary piece. It was manufactured using PolyJet technology and took more than 24 hours to produce.

Example 2: Mega-Gömböc for the National Bank of Hungary

The first independent Hungarian central bank, the National Bank of Hungary, commenced operations in 1924. To celebrate an commemorate this important event theNational Bank had Gömböc number 1924 produced in the mega size of 180mm height (double the size of a standard Gömböc).

Example 3: Numbered Gömböc with individual engraving

It is possible to have a name engraved on a piece of the numbered Gömböc series. In order to protect the authenticity we use a special, tamper-proof technology to produce these personalized engravings. In other words: it is not possible to produce a numbered Gömböc from a standard Gömböc, and it is not possible to take a numbered Gömböc and have it engraved later.

Example 4: Marble Gömböc

White marble is a prestigious material which requires a lot of skill. In September 2008 we were able to get the technology right and now we can present the first working marble Gömböc.
